Purpose and Mission

The purpose of the RBS Trail Alliance is:

  • To support the use of the rail trail in the former Canadian Pacific Railway corridor between Rosebery and the north end of Summit Lake in the Slocan Valley as a non-motorized recreational trail

  • To protect and foster an appreciation for the trail’s ecological and cultural values

  • To fulfil a stewardship role in trail planning, development, maintenance, and other trail activities

  • To provide a suitable framework for public input into the management and use of the trail

  • To represent community values and interests in dealing with other groups and organizations

  • To ensure the former CPR corridor from Rosebery to Summit Lake in the north Slocan Valley remains in the public domain in perpetuity

And, our mission is:

  • Protection of the ecology of the rail corridor including habitat for year-round and seasonal fish and wildlife species and native plants

  • Identification and protection of First Nations cultural heritage and traditional use sites and other cultural and historic features

  • Provision of safe and high quality trail experiences for all user groups
