Purpose and Mission
The purpose of the RBS Trail Alliance is:
To support the use of the rail trail in the former Canadian Pacific Railway corridor between Rosebery and the north end of Summit Lake in the Slocan Valley as a non-motorized recreational trail
To protect and foster an appreciation for the trail’s ecological and cultural values
To fulfil a stewardship role in trail planning, development, maintenance, and other trail activities
To provide a suitable framework for public input into the management and use of the trail
To represent community values and interests in dealing with other groups and organizations
To ensure the former CPR corridor from Rosebery to Summit Lake in the north Slocan Valley remains in the public domain in perpetuity
And, our mission is:
Protection of the ecology of the rail corridor including habitat for year-round and seasonal fish and wildlife species and native plants
Identification and protection of First Nations cultural heritage and traditional use sites and other cultural and historic features
Provision of safe and high quality trail experiences for all user groups
