The RBS Trail Alliance

The Rosebery Bonanza Summit (RBS) Trail Alliance was formed when five Slocan Valley non-profit organizations came together to form a new society, in partnership with Rec Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC), to manage a section of the rail trail from Rosebery to Summit Lake for non-motorized recreational use.

The original societies are:

North Slocan Trails Society

Valhalla Hills Nordic Ski Club

Hills Recreation Society

Rosebery Parklands Society, and

Slocan Lake Stewardship Society

In the Fall of 2022, after 20 years of study and public consultation, a 26 km section of the Rosebery-Summit Lake Trail Network was legally established as a non-motorized trail by the Province of BC. This network also includes a separate 29km route for motorized use consisting of existing roads and some new trail to link Forest Service Road systems in the area. If you are a motorized trail user who would like to travel along the wildlife corridor please contact the Slocan Lake ATV club and /or the Arrow Lake ATV club for route and access information.

The decision to have separate trails resulted from government- funded environmental impact assessments and from policy in the BC Recreation Manual, used by ministries to plan and design trails, which states that “…in most cases motorized and non-motorized use on the same trail is not recommended.”

The RBS Trail Alliance is now welcoming individuals and non-profit organizations to become members of the Society and to join in support of the operation and maintenance of the non-motorized rail trail. The Society is actively fundraising and collaborating with RSTBC to make needed improvements to all trail sections.
